Matt Black Terms and Conditions
Quotes and Orders
• Pricing on Matt Black quotes are valid for 7 days.
• Prices quoted will be subject to escalation according to SEIFSA INDICES(Labour & Material)
• To accept your quote and to confirm your order a 70% deposit is required.
• Once payment is made it is confirmed that the client has read and accepts the T&C’s of Matt Black.
• It is the customers responsibility to supply Matt black via email with the correct measurements,
and colouring of preference.
• Once payment is made the customer confirms the measurements on the SO and no further
changes or alterations can be made.
• Full payment must be made to accept and confirm quotes on upholstered items, lead time is 6 - 8
weeks
• Pricing exclude shipping costs. Shipping can be calculated and added to the SO.
Shipping and Collections
• Steel Furniture - can be collected from our Durbanville Studio in Cape Town. Please do notify us via
email if you will be collecting and we will confirm collection details. We currently do not have a
collection point in Gauteng.
Upholstery - Collection is not available for any Upholstered Items. Shipping only. Please do take
note of our upholstery T&C’s
• Matt black is based in Cape Town. We are 100% local and all manufacturing is done at our factory
in Cape Town. All shipping will be calculated from Cape Town.
• Orders will be dispatched when payment in full has been received.This included shipping costs.
• Matt black does not offer in house shipping but we do assist with requesting quotes and booking
shipping.
• All shipping is booked via a third party courier service. We do request various quotes on the
customers behalf and do source the best pricing and specialised fragile freight couriers that
specialises in furniture and decor shipping.
• Matt Black does not take responsibility and can not be held accountable for any damages or
possible losses due to shipping.
• Courier insurance is an option at an additional cost to the client, we do recommend insurance for
outlined areas. Insurances cost is 3% of the value of the item.
• Full payment must reflect in Matt Black’s banking to proceed to dispatch.
• In stock items will dispatch within two to five working days ,If the items are in the process of
manufacturing lead time will be 6 to 8 weeks unless further unforeseen delays do occur but Matt
Black will correspond accordingly if this is the situation.
• Matt black can not be help accountable for delays that are caused by circumstances out of our
control. These can include shortage of materials, Powder coating complications, Load shedding,
Striking and delays in the manufacturing processes. We will communicate and update our clients
accordingly should there be any delays.
• For transportation purposes upholstered furniture is packaged unassembled and requires some
assembling, this includes building modular beds, Drilling and fitting legs to sofas etc. Please take
note that your items will be delivered unassembled and assembling is not included with shipping.
• Dining Room Tables will be delivered in modular pieces and assembling will be required by the
customer. Please take note of this and arrange assistance if needed.
• In order for the delivery to take place accordingly please do communicate via email any situations
that could affect the delivery process. This would include staircases, Estate access codes, Buildings
without elevators, small passages etc. Also clearly specify delivery instructions if needed.
• If the client is not available on the arranged delivery date and alternative arrangements has not
been made 24h prior the customer will be held accountable for the charge of an alternative
delivery that will be scheduled.
• Assembling and installation of upholstered items can be arranged on request for Cape Town and
Gauteng region.
• Shipping charges are non refundable.
• Shipping costs on returns and exchanged are for the customers account.
• Matt Black can assist in arranging shipping services and can provide the customer with the parcels
tracking number but we do not receive any further communication from the couriers regarding
delivery times etc. It is the customers responsibility to track the parcel and communicate directly
with the courier. We do make use of a fragile freight courier service that does offer a specialised
delivery service and they do offer professional communication to the customer as part of their
service.
• The customer can arrange their own shipping. This must be confirmed and arranged via email.
Returns and Refunds
• Returns on non-custom items are accepted within 7 working days from delivery in original
packaging and undamaged. The standard 30% handling fee will be charged. Shipping charges will
not be refunded and the return shipping costs will be for the clients account and will be deducted
from the refundable amount.
• The returned Item must pass Matt Black’s return quality inspection and we do have the right to not
accept the return if the item is not in the original condition. Damages will be charged and will carry
an additional cost to the customer.
• Returns will only be accepted for collection if in the original Matt black packaging.
• Sale and promotional items are non refundable and can not be exchanged or returned.
• All custom pieces are non refundable and can not be returned or exchanged. This Includes all soft
upholstery Items, all Sofas, Headboards, Ottomans, scatter cushions etc. and The original Matt
black Art.
• Matt Black will not exchange, refund or accept returns due to incorrect measurements.
• Matt Black original and custom art is made on order and can not be returned, exchanged or
refunded.
• Matt black does not specialise in customised work and we have a non return, exchange or refund
policy on any customised orders.
• Dining Room Tables are made on order and falls under custom orders and can not be retuned ,
exchanged or refunded.
• No colouring changes can be made once an item has been delivered. This included the stain of any
Oak Tables and Furniture.
• Matt black will not take responsibility for any damages caused to items by negligence of opening
and unwrapping packaging.
• Rugs and selected artwork can be returned within 7 working days at a handling fee of R350.00 excl
per item.
Natural Markings, Colour and texture differences
• Steel including steel sheets are man made and engineered materials and differences in batches do
occur. There might be slight differences in steel thicknesses and top sheets this includes flat
surfaces and indentations on flat surfaces.
• All our pieces are locally made and manufactured by our highly skilled team of craftsman, we have
incredibly strict quality checks on every level and do our best to deliver nothing other than
absolute excellence but minor differences do occur and this is standard.
• All our manufacturing is 100% local but Please note Matt Black does not do any free handed Steel
works all our pieces are made in jigs to deliver nothing but perfection and the very highest quality
of steel craftsmanship.
• Power Coating, Minor texture differences are standard and can occur.
• Leather, Bovine or Buffalo leather do have natural markings on uncorrected leather. This will
include burn marks, tick marks, scratches and any damage that was caused to to the normal traffic
that occurred during the animals life span. If you do not like this please do make sure that you do
choose a corrected leather that is flat and has no movement. Dye batches differs in colour and
minor colour differences do occur.
• Fabric, Minor colour differences do occur in different batches
• Wood, natural colouring and markings do occur.
Receiving and Cleaning and Care Instructions
• Congratulations with purchasing your Matt black decor Items. We are incredibly excited and
celebrating the transformation of your space with you! Thank you for trusting Matt black to be part
of your styling and design journey!
• When receiving your delivery please do inspect the condition of the packaging and if you have any
concerns regarding the condition of the packaging please do inform the Matt black team
immediately. This can be done via email or our what’s app line 0685255437.
• If this is the situation to protect yourself please be so kind to take photos before unwrapping as
this is crucial in terms of investigating etc.
• To avoid any damages when unwrapping please do take special care when opening any Matt Black
Items packaging. Please do not open up your parcels with sharp objects. All Matt black items go
through strict quality control checks before packaging take place and is wrapped correctly for safe
transportation. Matt black steel furniture is powder coated but sharp objects can scratch the
coating.
• Oak Furniture - Please follow standard care instructions for all Oak furniture as Matt Black will not
take responsibility for any damaged caused due to neglect of standard care instructions. We only
use solid Oak on all our furniture. Oak is a natural material and can be damaged by sharp or rough
objects placed on the surface. Please do make use of coaters and place mats to protect the surface
from water marks and indentations. All our Oak pieces are bleached or stained in your colour of
choice and sealed with a basic natural wax. This does not make the surface water resistant and
stains and water marks can occur. Protect your wood surface with coaters and wipe away any
water spills immediately to avoid water damage. Use veldt or rubber bump on’s under all decor
elements. For cleaning avoid any harsh chemicals and cleaning materials as this might strip the
finish from the wood. Only Clean with a microfibre damp cloth with mild detergents if needed.
Avoid any oils and note that any oil or sealant will change the natural oak colour. Avoid direct
sunlight. Colour changes can be expected and is a natural occurrence to any material of natural
origin. Please do ask for our recommendations if you would like to seal your Oak furniture Item.
• Steel furniture - Please follow standard care instructions for all Steel furniture as Matt Black will
not take responsibility for any damaged caused due to neglect of standard care instructions. All our
steel furniture is coated in a Ferro grain Powder coating that is incredibly durable and handles high
traffic very well but scuff marks can occur. Do make use of coasters and avoid any sharp or ruff
items on the steel surface. We do recommend Veld stickers or rubber bump on’s under any decor
elements. Avoid any harsh chemicals as this will damage or discolour the coating. Cleaning, We
recommend using a lint free cloth as the coating does have a textured finish and fluff can remain.
Clean with a damp cloth with a mild detergent if needed. Water spill should not be left and wiped
immediately. Please take note that the Powder coating is a very hard coating that is baked on but if
the coating would have to be broken rust could occur in that specific area. Make use of drip trays in
side of Indoor Steel planters as constant water on the steel surface must be avoided. This is only
applicable to the indoor planter range as outdoor is made with rust free materials.
• Glass - Matt black only makes use of tempered glass to insure safety and durability. Glass can be
cleaned with a glass cloth and any glass detergent. Avoid sharp objects as scratch marks can occur.
Avoid any harsh chemicals. Do not sit or lean on glass table tops.
Factory Warranty
• Matt black will not take responsibility for damaged due to neglect of care instructions.
• Steel furniture does carry a factory warranty that does include coating, welding and hardware
defects within 6 Months from purchased date.
• Matt black does have the right to do a full inspection and does have the right to reject the warranty
claim.
• Warranty claims does not include basic wear and tear of furniture.
